Quite Big Optical Zoom

The smallest optical zoom of small sensor size camcorders that are a comparable age to the GZ-RX510 is 10x and the biggest is 50x. With an optical zoom of 40 times zoom factor, the JVC GZ-RX510 has one of the bigger optical zooms amongst small sensor size camcorders of this age.

We compared this camcorder to all the other 40x (optical) camcorders and we think because of it's better review score, the GZ-R315 (£49.99), and the GZ-R310 (£267.99) both from JVC is also worth considering.

If you are looking for a bigger optical zoom then you might also want to consider the Panasonic HC-V270 (£278.09) (50x) which is also higher rated.

The GZ-RX510 supports a better memory card type than most small sensor size camcorders that were launched more than a year ago. This video camera supports an SDXC memory card, whereas most similar spec camcorders that were released one year ago support an SD memory card. This JVC video camera also supports an SDHC memory card. SDXC cards are SD cards but with a much higher capacity and faster processing speeds. They have a maximum capacity of 2TB (Terabytes).

An SDXC memory card is in fact the best supported memory card type amongst all camcorders of a similar spec and age to the GZ-RX510.

The worst supported memory card type amongst comparable types of camcorder is SD.

SDHC cards are DS cards with a higher capacity of up to 32GB.
