I have no regrets buying this slightly more expensive laptop over an entry level $1000-$1200 gaming rig. I don't think you would either...

Let the record show I have only owned this for a couple weeks, but I know my way around computers and THIS laptop is a fine creation
The build quality is excellent. This is a large laptop, heavy by laptop standards, and the build is such that it isn't an issue
The keyboard is wonderful. It has that nice chiclet tactile feel that you would expect on a high end laptop (feels like a macbook pro KB). The blacklighting is red and the brightness of the backlight
The screen is flawless, and can go nice and dim if need be, for midnight web surfing on battery
I have not tested the battery while gaming. .. because why bother, but I can say for surfingskypebrowsing Steam ect. the battery does last a good 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on your use. I had a 3 hour
The CD Drive has a protruding "open" button that I sometimes brush with my hand while moving the laptop around. .. . then it pops open and it's kinda annoying because I can see it breaking if I don't
Windows 8.1 bloatware. Easy to uninstall the bloatware, and you can get mods for windows 8 that return the "Start" button to a Windows 7 style (So you don't get a big tablet screen every time you pres
If you disable all the stupid things about Windows 8 that run in the background, it's really not alot different than 7
