Itpro.co.uk said “Indeed, for well-off Apple users who want excellent image quality.” however despite that they only gave the product a rating of 67 out of 100. Expert website Alphr.com said in their review “Mouth-watering design and good image quality.”.

Good Size

One customer who bought the product mentioned that it was compact. Expert review site Pcauthority.com.au wrote six years ago “If you're looking for a compact, affordable monitor, Apple's latest Cinema Display isn't it” but despite that they only scored the product 3 stars.

The 27" Cinema Display has a built-in speaker, which is unusual. Most of the other comparable spec flatpanel monitors that have been on the market for around the same time as the 27" Cinema Display do not have a built-in speaker.

The vertical viewing angles of similar spec flatpanel monitors that were launched more than two years ago range from 50° to 180°. With a vertical viewing angle of 178 degrees, the 27" Cinema Display has one of the wider vertical viewing angles amongst similar spec PC displays of this age.

A Bit Expensive

A number of people mentioned in their reviews that the product was not good value for money. M. Selway wrote on Amazon in November last year “Superb addition for a macbook, simple and hassle free, pricey though” in their review but in spite of that they still gave it an excellent review. Mr. Guy Mcevoy said on Amazon “The price hasn't come down as much as you would expect for tech that is that old.” in his Apple 27" Cinema Display review. Alphr.com said “It's pricey and overly restrictive”.

One person concluded that it was not cheap. Nicholas_b mentioned in their review of the Apple 27" Cinema Display on Amazon two years ago “Most expensive mirror on Amazon”. One customer who reviewed the Apple 27" Cinema Display considered that it was not a bargain for the price. Techradar.com mentioned on expert website Techradar “Apple kit's never cheap”.

Not 3D Compatible

The Apple 27" Cinema Display is not 3D compatible. Most of the other PC monitors of this type and age are also not 3D compatible.

PC displays which are 3D compatible that might be worth considering include the Asus VG23AH, the AOC d2757Ph, or the Benq XL2411T which also has a higher rating.

Does Not Have an Integrated Card Reader

Most PC displays of a comparable age and spec to the 27" Cinema Display do not have an integrated card reader. The Apple 27" Cinema Display is no exception to this as it too does not have an integrated card reader.

Alternative PC displays which also have an integrated card reader that you might also want to look at include the U2413 (£279.00), the U2713H (£349.00), or the UP2414Q (£499.99) all from DELL which is also higher rated.

LCD Display Type

The 27" Cinema Display has a better display type than most similar spec PC displays that have been available for more than two years. This Apple PC monitor has an LCD display type, whereas most medium monitors that were released more than two years ago have an LED display type.

We compared this PC monitor to all the other flatpanel monitors that have an LCD Display and we think because of it's better review score, the Asus VG236 (£349.99) is also worth considering.

If you want a PC display with a better display type then you might also want to consider the Acer G237HL (£94.99) (LED).
