Expert Reviews Are Average

On average, based on two expert reviews from sites including CNET.com and phonearena.com this desktop computer has an overall expert rating of 75 out of 100.

Good Connectivity

Some HP 820 reviewers agreed that the product was wifi compatible. Cnet.com mentioned in their review of the HP 820 on expert website CNET.com “Up to 200 min, With digital camera, Verizon Wireless Good”. Tech-Faq.com said “The Pantech PN-820 is Verizon Wireless answer to the ever-increasing hunger for Windows based smart phones”.

HP Has Good Reviews for Its Desktop Computers

HP has good average reviews for its many processor core personal computers as well as across its entire desktop computer range compared to other brands.

Easy to Use

One HP 820 reviewer who bought it reckoned that it was easy to use.

Nice Design

One HP 820 reviewer mentioned in their reviews that it was a good design. Expert review site Cnet.com wrote in their review of this PC “The Verizon Wireless PN-820 brings the capabilities of a Windows Mobile smart phone into a practical clamshell design”.

64-Bit Processor Operating Mode

This personal computer supports a 64-bit processor operating mode, which is the most commonly supported processor operating mode on personal computers of a similar spec and age to it.

Chart Edit

Two Ethernet LAN (RJ-45) Ports

The HP 820 has more Ethernet LAN (RJ-45) ports than most of the many processor core personal computers that came out more than a year ago. Most of the personal computers that came out around the same time as the 820 only have one Ethernet LAN (RJ-45) port, however this HP desktop computer has two Ethernet LAN (RJ-45) ports.

Chart Edit

Three 5.25" Bays

Most PCs of a similar age and type to the 820 have between one and three 5.25" bays, including the HP 820 which has three 5.25" bays.

7 Reasons Against

Very Slow Processor Clock Speed

Across all the comparable spec computers that were released more than a year ago the processor clock speeds range from 1.6GHz to 3.5GHz, and the average processor clock speed is 3GHz. The HP 820 has a quite slow processor clock speed (only 2.1 gigahertz) compared to most of the other comparable spec computers that have been on the market for around the same time as the 820.

If this computer processor clock speed is too slow for you then you might also want to look at the HP Z640 (£1,277.70) (2.4GHz), the Lenovo P700 (£1,599.97) (2.4GHz), or the Fujitsu R940 (2.4GHz) which is also higher rated.

Only HDD Storage Medium

The HP 820 has an HDD storage medium which is faster than most desktop computers that are a similar age to it. Most comparable spec computers that are a similar age to it have a Flash storage medium. A Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is the traditional storage method for computers. A HDD stores the information on magnetic disks. HDD drives are cheap, but they are slower than Flash and SSD bases storage systems.

This PC's storage speed (HDD) is in fact the worst storage speed across all computers of a similar spec and age to the 820.

An SSD storage medium is the best storage speed across similar types of PC.

We compared this personal computer to all the other HDD personal computers and we think the HP Z640 (£1,277.70) which has better reviews is also worth considering.

If the storage speed of this many processor core personal computer is too slow for you then you might want to consider the HP Z440 MT (£1,769.91) (SSD), or the Lenovo Thinkstation P500 (£1,592.50) (SSD).

Very Slow Max Memory Bandwidth Supported Processor

The average max memory bandwidth supported processor of many processor core personal computers that have been around for around the same time as the 820 is 61GB/s. With a max memory bandwidth supported processor of only 51.2 gigabytes per second, the HP 820 has a fairly slow max memory bandwidth supported processor compared to most of the other comparable spec computers that were released one year ago.

Chart Edit

Quite Slow Maximum Turbo Frequency

The average maximum turbo frequency of desktop computers that came out more than a year ago is 3.6GHz. At only 2.6 gigahertz, the HP 820 has a very slow maximum turbo frequency compared to most of the other many processor core personal computers that have been on the market for around the same time as the 820.

Chart Edit

Quite Low System Bus Data Transfer Rate

Desktop computers that are a comparable age to the 820 have system bus data transfer rates of between 6.4GT/s and 8GT/s, and the average system bus data transfer rate is 7.8GT/s. At only 7.2 Gigatransfers per second, the HP 820 has a quite low system bus data transfer rate compared to most of the other many processor core personal computers that were released one year ago.

Chart Edit

Quite Small Hard Drive Capacity

With a hard drive capacity of only 1,000 gigabyte, the HP 820 has one of the smaller hard drive capacity amongst similar spec PCs of this age. The average hard drive capacity of similar spec computers that have been on the market for a comparable time to the 820 is 1.3TB, and the hard drive capacity range from 500GB to 2TB.

Chart Edit

Heavy

Desktop computers of this age and spec have weights of between 5kg and 30kg. With a weight of 19.5 kilograms, the HP 820 is quite heavy compared to most of the other personal computers that were released one year ago.

Chart Edit

3 Other reasons to consider the HP 820

Released Over a Year Ago

This desktop computer has been on the market for over a year.

Average Internal Memory

At 16 gigabytes, the HP 820 has a relatively standard internal memory compared to most of the other many processor core personal computers that are a comparable age to the 820.

We think you might also be interested in some of the other 16GB memory personal computers currently available including the Apple Mac Pro Late 2013 (£3,750.00) which has better reviews.

If you are looking for a personal computer with a bigger internal memory then you might also want to look at the HP Z840 (£5,319.54) (32GB).

Average Total Storage Capacity

With a total storage capacity of 1,000 gigabyte, the HP 820 has a pretty average total storage capacity compared to most of the other desktop computers of this type and age.

We compared all the other 1TB total storage capacity PCs to this personal computer and we think because of it's better review score, the HP Z640 (£1,277.70) is also worth considering.
