9 Reasons For
Only Released Two Months Ago
As one of the newer personal computers, this personal computer is likely to use better technology.
HP Has Good Personal Computer Reviews
Medium processor core computers produced by HP have good ratings on average compared to other brands. We also checked the reviews for all PCs (not just medium processor core computers) and found that HP also has good ratings across its entire range.
64-Bit Processor Operating Mode
This PC supports a 64-bit processor operating mode, which is the most commonly supported processor operating mode on medium processor core computers that are a comparable age to it.
SSD Storage Medium
The HP Elite Slice has a faster storage speed than most comparable spec desktop computers that are a similar age to it. This HP computer has an SSD storage medium, whereas most recently released medium processor core computers have an HDD storage medium. Solid State Drives (SSD) store information in transistors on a circuit board rather than on optical or magnetic media. This has the advantage of being much faster than a traditional HDD drive.
An SSD storage medium is actually the best storage speed across all latest medium processor core computers.
An HDD storage medium is the worst storage speed amongst similar types of computer.
We compared all the other SSD PCs to this computer and we think the DELL 7040 (£634.80) which is cheaper is also worth considering.
3 PCI Express Slots Version
This personal computer supports a 3 PCI Express slots version, which is typical of many latest personal computers.
DDR4-SDRAM Internal Memory Type
This computer has a DDR4-SDRAM internal memory type, which is typical of many similar spec PCs that came out around the same time as it.
+4 More reasons for
At only 165 millimeters, the HP Elite Slice is fairly short compared to most of the other medium processor core computers that have been on the market for a similar time to the Elite Slice. The shortest medium processor core computer that has been available for the last year is 10mm high and the tallest is 530mm.
Across all the PCs that are a comparable age to the Elite Slice the weights range from 38g to 23kg. With a weight of only 1.1 kilograms, the Elite Slice is one of the lightest new medium processor core computers amongst medium processor core computers of this age.
With a depth of only 35 millimeters, the HP Elite Slice is very shallow compared to most of the other recently released PCs. The average depth of latest medium processor core computers is 340mm.
6 Reasons Against
Very Small Total Storage Capacity
With a total storage capacity of only 128 gigabytes, the HP Elite Slice has one of the smaller total storage capacity amongst similar spec desktop computers of this age. The average total storage capacity of desktop computers that were launched in the last 12 months is 810GB.
There are a number of alternative 128GB total storage capacity computers currently available that you might also want to consider including cheaper PCs such as the 5040 (£575.62), or the 7040 (£624.39) both from DELL.
If this desktop computer total storage capacity is too small for you then you might want to consider the HP 400 G3 SFF (£657.99) (256GB and cheaper).
Quite Slow Processor Clock Speed
Comparable spec desktop computers that came out in the last year have processor clock speeds of between 1.3GHz and 4GHz, and the average processor clock speed is 3.1GHz. The Elite Slice has a fairly slow processor clock speed (only 2.5 gigahertz) compared to most of the other recently released medium processor core computers.
We compared all the other 2.5GHz processor clock speed desktop computers to this personal computer and we think the HP ProDesk 600 G2 Mini (£551.99), and the DELL 7040 Micro (£624.39) which is cheaper is also worth considering.
If you want a faster processor clock speed then you might want to look at the 550-267ng (£634.44) (2.7GHz), the 400 G3 SFF (£657.99) (3.2GHz), or the 600 G2 MT (£648.65) (3.2GHz) all from HP which is also cheaper.
Very Small Internal Memory
Across all the medium processor core computers that were launched in the last year the internal memory range from 2GB to 32GB. The Elite Slice has one of the smaller internal memory (only 4 gigabytes) amongst medium processor core computers of this age.
We think you might also be interested in some of the alternative 4GB memory computers currently available including the ThinkCentre M900 Tiny (£600.83), or the E73 (£602.05) both from Lenovo which is cheaper.
If this computer internal memory is too small for you then you might want to look at the 550-267ng (£634.44) (8GB), or the 400 G3 SFF (£657.99) (8GB) both from HP which is also cheaper.
Only Has One Memory Slot
The Elite Slice has a greater number of memory slots than most medium processor core computers that are a comparable age to it. The most commonly found memory slot is 4x DIMM, but this memory slot is not found on this personal computer. The memory slots 2x DIMM are also found on this HP personal computer.
+3 More reasons against
Only 10 Mbit/s Ethernet LAN Data Rate
This desktop computer supports a 10|100|1000 Mbit/s Ethernet LAN data rate, which is the most commonly supported Ethernet LAN data rate on medium processor core computers that are a comparable age to it.
Quite Slow Maximum Turbo Frequency
The Elite Slice has one of the slower maximum turbo frequencies (only 3.1 gigahertz) amongst medium processor core computers of this age. Across all the latest personal computers the maximum turbo frequencies range from 1.8GHz to 4.2GHz.
