5 Reasons For

Good Brand

Based on 1,708 expert and user reviews, Optoma has good reviews for its multimedia projectors. Optoma also has good reviews specifically within its 18000:1 contrast ratio data projectors range.

1600 X 1200 (UXGA) Graphics Resolution

The Optoma DS340E supports a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 (UXGA). That's over six times the resolution of a 640 x 480 (VGA) projector, which is the most common resolution supported by data projectors of this spec and age. 640 x 480 (VGA) is also supported by this data projector. In addition, this multimedia projector support graphics resolutions of 1024 x 768 (XGA) and 1280 x 1024 (SXGA) and 800 x 600 (SVGA).

A 1600 x 1200 (UXGA) graphics resolution is actually the best supported resolution across all comparable spec projectors that came out around the same time as the DS340E.

Across similar types of data projector the worst supported resolution is 640 x 480 (VGA).

At 1,073.4 million, the Optoma DS340E has a quite high number of colours compared to most of the other 18000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that are a comparable age to the DS340E. Across all the comparable spec projectors that are a similar age to the DS340E the numbers of colours range from 1,000M to 1,100M.

Chart Edit

7 Reasons Against

Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity

Most 18000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that have been around for more than a year do not support WiFi connectivity. The Optoma DS340E is no exception to this as it too does not support WiFi connectivity.

Chart Edit

Does Not Support Full HD Projection

Like most of the other data projectors of a similar age and spec to the DS340E, the Optoma DS340E does not support Full HD projection.

We compared this projector to all the other projectors with a Full HD projection and we think the DH1011i (£521.00), or the EH319UST (£915.37) both from Optoma is also worth considering.

Only SVGA (800x600) Native Projector Resolution

The highest resolution of the Optoma DS340E is SVGA (800x600). That's 39% less resolution than a XGA (1024x768) projector, which is the most common resolution. The resolution of all comparable spec data projectors that came out around the same time as the DS340E ranges from nHD (640x360) (worst) to DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) (best).

Chart Edit

Very Dim Projector Brightness

The projector brightness of projectors of this age and spec range from 3,000 ANSI lumens to 3,600 ANSI lumens. With a projector brightness of only 3,000 ANSI lumens, the Optoma DS340E has a quite dim projector brightness compared to most of the other 18000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that were released one year ago.

There are a number of other 3,000 ANSI lumens brightness projectors currently available which you might want to look at including because of it's better review score, the Optoma DX342 (£257.00).

If this multimedia projector projector brightness is not bright enough for you then you might also want to look at the DH1011i (£521.00) (3,200 ANSI lumens), the X319UST (£749.36) (3,200 ANSI lumens), or the X319USTir (£998.70) (3,200 ANSI lumens) all from Optoma.
