Reasonably Priced

A number of customers wrote in their reviews that this projector was good value for money. Trustedreviews.com said in their review of the Optoma HD83 on expert review site Trusted Reviews “3D mode look absolutely excellent for the HD83's money.” and rated the Optoma HD83 4 stars. Trusted Reviews mentioned “3D pictures are very good for the money”.

One person who reviewed it considered that it was a bargain for the price. Trustedreviews.com rated the Optoma HD83 4 stars and mentioned in their Optoma HD83 review five years ago “Panasonic, we're about to take delivery of Sim2's new Nero 1 3D model, Epson's new remarkably cheap 3D models”.

Good 3D Picture Quality

Three people who reviewed the Optoma HD83 said that it had a good 3D picture quality. Five years ago expert website Trustedreviews.com rated it 4 stars and wrote in their review of the Optoma HD83 “At the time of writing, we've recently seen excellent new 3D projectors from Sony”.

Acceptable Noise Level

One customer said in their reviews that this projector was quiet. Four years ago Trusted Reviews mentioned “Runs quietly in low lamp mode” and scored the product 80 out of 100.

Supports Full HD Projection

Unlike most of the other similar spec data projectors that are a comparable age to the HD83 which do not support Full HD projection, the Optoma HD83 supports Full HD projection.

We compared all the other projectors which support Full HD projection to this projector and we think because of it's better review score, the Epson EH-TW6600[plb_2495277_price] is also worth considering.

Supports 3D Image Projection

Unlike most of the other data projectors of a similar age and spec to the HD83 which do not support 3D image projection, the Optoma HD83 supports 3D image projection.

It may also be worth also looking at one of the other multimedia projectors which support 3D image projection currently available including because of it's better review score, the Epson EH-TW6600[plb_2495277_price].

1080p (1920x1080) Native Projector Resolution

The highest resolution of the Optoma HD83 is 1080p (1920x1080). That's over two times the resolution of the most common native projector resolution of WXGA (1280x800). Across all projectors that are a similar age to the HD83 the worst resolution is VGA (640x480) and the best is DCI 4K (4096 x 2160).

Fairly Big Uniformity

The average uniformity of comparable spec data projectors that have been around for around the same time as the HD83 is 86%, and the uniformities range from 80% to 120%. At 90 percent, the Optoma HD83 has a quite big uniformity compared to most of the other projectors that are a similar age to the HD83.

The Optoma HD83 is a two HDMI port projector. Most of the other multimedia projectors of a similar age and spec to the HD83 only have one HDMI port.

The noise levels of multimedia projectors that have been available for around the same time as the HD83 range from 21dB to 43dB, and the average noise level is 33dB. The Optoma HD83 has a quite quiet noise level (only 22 decibels) compared to most of the other multimedia projectors that were released more than two years ago.

Does Not Have a Built-In Speaker

The Optoma HD83 does not have a built-in speaker. Most of the other projectors of this age and type do have a built-in speaker.

We compared this projector to all the other data projectors with a built-in speaker and we think the Epson EH-TW6600[plb_2495277_price] which also has a higher rating is also worth considering.

Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity

The Optoma HD83 does not support WiFi connectivity. Most of the other comparable spec data projectors that were released more than two years ago also do not support WiFi connectivity.

Quite Dim Projector Brightness

Across all the similar spec projectors that have been available for more than two years the projector brightness range from 75 ANSI lumens to 11,000 ANSI lumens, and the average projector brightness is 3,000 ANSI lumens. At only 1,600 ANSI lumen, the Optoma HD83 has a fairly dim projector brightness compared to most of the other projectors that were launched around the same time as the HD83.

If you would prefer a projector with a brighter projector brightness then you might also want to look at the Epson EH-TW6600[plb_2495277_price] (2,500 ANSI lumens) which also has a higher rating.
