Optoma Has Good Reviews for Its Multimedia Projectors
We calculated the average ratings for all Optoma multimedia projectors and specifically for Optoma 10000:1 contrast ratio data projectors and found that in both cases Optoma had good ratings compared to other brands.
Only Released Six Months Ago
This 10000:1 contrast ratio projector has only been on the market for six months. Newer projectors like this one are likely to have better features.
50Hz AC Input Frequency
This multimedia projector has a 50 - 60Hz AC input frequency, which is typical of many 10000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that were launched in the last year.
Supports 3D Image Projection
The Optoma ZH300UW supports 3D image projection, which is unusual. Most of the other similar spec projectors that have been available for a comparable time to the ZH300UW do not support 3D image projection.
Has a Built-In Speaker
Like most of the other 10000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that were launched around the same time as the ZH300UW, the ZH300UW has a built-in speaker.
It may also be worth also looking at one of the alternative projectors with a built-in speaker currently available including the CP-X8800 (£4,945.33), the CP-WX8750 (£4,796.41), or the CP-WX8650 (£4,031.66) all from Hitachi which is cheaper.
1280 X 1024 (SXGA) Graphics Resolution
The Optoma ZH300UW supports a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 (SXGA). That's 67% more resolution than the most frequently found graphics resolution of 1024 x 768 (XGA). Across all recently released 10000:1 contrast ratio data projectors the best resolution is 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) and the worst is 640 x 480 (VGA).
If you would prefer a data projector with a higher resolution then you might want to look at the Sony VPL-VW300ES (£3,995.00) (720 x 576|1280 x 720 (HD 720)|1920 x 1080 (HD 1080)|3840 x 2160|4096 x 2160) which also has a higher rating.
+4 More reasons for
Quite Quiet Noise Level
At only 32 decibels, the ZH300UW has a quite quiet noise level compared to most of the other new 10000:1 contrast ratio data projectors. Across all the similar spec projectors that have been around for around the same time as the ZH300UW the noise levels range from 27dB to 41dB, and the average noise level is 34dB.
If you don't mind having a louder noise level then you might also want to look at the VPL-FHZ57 (£3,647.00) (28dB and cheaper), or the VPL-FWZ60 (£4,409.47) (28dB and cheaper) both from Sony or the Hitachi CP-WX8650 (£4,031.66) (35dB and cheaper).
Two HDMI Ports
The Optoma ZH300UW is a two HDMI port projector. Most of the other 10000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that came out around the same time as the ZH300UW have between one and two HDMI ports.
Quite Long Lamp Service Life
10000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that have been on the market for the last year have lamp service lives of between 1,500h and 20,000h. The ZH300UW has one of the longer lamp service lives (20,000 hours) amongst comparable spec projectors of this age.
8 Reasons Against
Does Not Support Full HD Projection
Like most of the other latest data projectors, the ZH300UW does not support Full HD projection.
We think you might also be interested in other data projectors which also support Full HD projection including the Sony VPL-FHZ57 (£3,647.00) which is also cheaper.
Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity
The Optoma ZH300UW does not support WiFi connectivity. Most of the other recently released projectors also do not support WiFi connectivity.
Quite Dim Projector Brightness
At only 2,700 ANSI lumens, the ZH300UW has a very dim projector brightness compared to most of the other new 10000:1 contrast ratio data projectors. Across all the latest similar spec projectors the projector brightness range from 2,000 ANSI lumens to 9,400 ANSI lumens, and the average projector brightness is 4,400 ANSI lumens.
Expensive Compared to Other Latest 10000:1 Contrast Ratio Data Projectors
We think this Optoma projector looks expensive for a similar spec projector that has been around for the last year. The price range of latest 10000:1 contrast ratio data projectors is from £311 to £14,652.
+5 More reasons against
Only One USB 2.0 Port
The ZH300UW is a one USB 2.0 port projector. Most of the other 10000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that were released around the same time as the ZH300UW have between one and three USB 2.0 ports.
Quite Low RMS Rated Power
Across all the 10000:1 contrast ratio data projectors that were released in the last 12 months the RMS rated power range from 2W to 20W. The ZH300UW has a fairly low RMS rated power (only 10 Watts) compared to most of the other multimedia projectors that were launched around the same time as the ZH300UW.
Fairly Loud Noise Level in Economy Mode
Similar spec data projectors that have been around for the last year have noise levels in economy mode of between 27dB and 33dB. With a noise level in economy mode of 32 decibels, the Optoma ZH300UW has a quite loud noise level in economy mode compared to most of the other new 10000:1 contrast ratio data projectors.
Very Small Optical Zoom
With an optical zoom of only 1 times zoom factor, the ZH300UW has one of the smaller optical zooms amongst multimedia projectors of this age. Across all the comparable spec projectors that are a similar age to the ZH300UW the optical zooms range from 1x to 1.7x, and the average optical zoom is 1.3x.

Total running cost over 5 years
Running costs for this projector have been estimated based on other similar projectors. If you know how much electricity and water the Optoma ZH300UWuses then please let us know by entering those figures in the boxes above.
Running this projector over 5 years will generate 0.55 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2).
To offset that much CO2 you would need to plant 15 tree seedlings and grow them for 10 years.
