3 Reasons For

Excellent Brand

On average Panasonic data projectors are rated 90%, which is in the top 1% of all multimedia projector manufacturers that we have assessed.

1920 X 1200 (WUXGA) Graphics Resolution

The Panasonic PT-LX22 supports a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA). That's 20% more resolution than the most frequently found graphics resolution of 1600 x 1200 (UXGA) (which is also supported by this projector). This multimedia projector also support graphics resolutions of 720 x 480, 768 x 576, 832 x 624, 1152 x 870, 1280 x 960, 1024 x 768 (XGA), 1280 x 1024 (SXGA), 1280 x 720 (HD 720), 1360 x 768 (WXGA), 1400 x 1050 (SXGA+), 1440 x 900 (WXGA+), 1680 x 1050 (WSXGA+), 1920 x 1080 (HD 1080) and 640 x 480 (VGA) and 800 x 600 (SVGA).

This projector's resolution (1920 x 1200 (WUXGA)) is actually the best supported resolution across all 500:1 contrast ratio projectors that were launched around the same time as the PT-LX22.

Across similar types of projector the worst supported resolution is 640 x 480 (VGA).

Quite Quiet Noise Level

Across all the 500:1 contrast ratio projectors that have been on the market for more than two years the noise levels range from 29dB to 37dB. With a noise level of only 34.1 decibels, the PT-LX22 has a quite quiet noise level compared to most of the other data projectors that came out around the same time as the PT-LX22.

Alternative data projectors with a louder noise level that you might want to look at include the LV-7297[pl_1457671_price] (36.4dB), or the LV-7292[pl_1517999_price] (36.4dB) both from Canon.

6 Reasons Against

Does Not Support Full HD Projection

The PT-LX22 does not support Full HD projection, unlike most of the other similar spec data projectors that were launched more than two years ago which support Full HD projection.

We compared this projector to all the other data projectors with a Full HD projection and we think the Optoma HD23[plb_1830006_price] which also has a higher rating is also worth considering.

Does Not Have a Built-In Speaker

The PT-LX22 does not have a built-in speaker, unlike most of the other projectors of a comparable age and spec to the PT-LX22.

Chart Edit

Does Not Support 3D Image Projection

Most similar spec data projectors that came out more than two years ago do not support 3D image projection. The PT-LX22 is no exception to this as it too does not support 3D image projection.

Chart Edit

Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity

The Panasonic PT-LX22 does not support WiFi connectivity, although this is within the context that most of the other projectors that have been available for more than two years also do not support WiFi connectivity.

Chart Edit

Quite Dim Projector Brightness

The dimmest projector brightness of 500:1 contrast ratio projectors that have been around for a similar time to the PT-LX22 is 1,500 ANSI lumens, the brightest is 3,200 ANSI lumens, and the average projector brightness is 2,500 ANSI lumens. At only 2,200 ANSI lumens, the Panasonic PT-LX22 has a quite dim projector brightness compared to most of the other 500:1 contrast ratio projectors that were released more than two years ago.

Multimedia projectors with a brighter projector brightness that might also be worth looking at include the Optoma HD23[plb_1830006_price] (2,500 ANSI lumens) which is also higher rated.

Quite Slow Dot Clock Scanning Frequency

Across all the projectors of a similar spec and age to the PT-LX22 the dot clock scanning frequencies range from 1MHz to 230MHz, and the average dot clock scanning frequency is 150MHz. At only 140 megahertz, the PT-LX22 has a fairly slow dot clock scanning frequency compared to most of the other multimedia projectors that have been on the market for a similar time to the PT-LX22.
