The Philips PPX1230 supports Full HD projection, which is unusual. Most of the other multimedia projectors of a comparable type and age to the PPX1230 do not support Full HD projection.

Alternative data projectors which support Full HD projection currently available which you might want to look at include because of it's better review score, the Philips PPX3410, or the Optoma DH1009 (£449.99).

The PPX1230 has a built-in speaker, as do most of the other projectors of a comparable age and spec to the PPX1230.

8 Reasons Against

Poor Expert Reviews

Projector expert review site 01net.com scored this multimedia projector 20%. The projector expert review sites don't rate this battery powered projector very highly.

Philips Only Has Unexceptional Data Projector Reviews

We calculated the average reviews for all Philips projectors and also specifically for Philips battery powered projectors and found that in both cases Philips had unexceptional reviews compared to other manufacturers.

Very Dim Projector Brightness

The PPX1230 has a fairly dim projector brightness (only 30 ANSI lumens) compared to most of the other multimedia projectors of this type and age. Across all the similar spec data projectors that have been on the market for around the same time as the PPX1230 the projector brightness range from 20 ANSI lumens to 5,500 ANSI lumens, and the average projector brightness is 460 ANSI lumens.

We compared all the other 30 ANSI lumens brightness projectors to this projector and we think the Philips PPX2330 (£189.00) which has better reviews is also worth considering.

If this Philips projector projector brightness is too dim for you then you might also want to look at the 3M MP225 (32 ANSI lumens), the Genius BV180 (35 ANSI lumens), or the Aiptek MobileCinema i50D (35 ANSI lumens) which also has a higher rating.
