3 Reasons For

Light

At only 4.9 kilograms, the CVSH20V is fairly light compared to most of the other vacuums that have been available for a comparable time to the CVSH20V. High maximum input power vacuums that have been available for a comparable time to the CVSH20V have weights of between 5.7g and 110kg.

We think you might also be interested in some of the other 4.9kg heavy vacuums currently available including the Rowenta RO4627 which has better reviews.

Shallow

With a depth of only 282 millimeters, the CVSH20V is one of the shallower high maximum input power vacuums that came out around the same time as the CVSH20V amongst vacuums of this age. Vacuum cleaners that were released more than two years ago have depths of between 140mm and 600mm, and the average depth is 380mm.

4 Reasons Against

Poor Expert Reviews

This Hitachi vacuum received a rating of 60 out of 100 from expert review site gadgetguy.com.au. Experts don't rate this high maximum input power vacuum cleaner very highly.

Does Not Have a Brush Tool

The CVSH20V does not have a brush tool, although this is within the context that most of the other vacuums of a similar age and type to the CVSH20V also do not have a brush tool.

It is worth considering alternative vacuums which also have a brush tool including the S6210 (£164.98), or the S8 TotalCare both from Miele or the Samsung SC8830.

Not Cordless

Most vacuums that have been available for around the same time as the CVSH20V are not cordless. The Hitachi CVSH20V is no exception to this as it too is not cordless.

Vacuum cleaners which are cordless that might be worth looking at include the Air Force Extreme 24V, or the RH8758 both from Rowenta or the Electrolux T8 which also has a higher rating.

Very Small Dust Capacity

Vacuum cleaners of this spec and age have dust capacities of between 0.3L and 83L, and the average dust capacity is 5.8L. With a dust capacity of only 1.6 liters, the Hitachi CVSH20V has one of the smaller dust capacities amongst high maximum input power vacuums of this age.

3 Other reasons to consider the Hitachi CVSH20V

Average Vacuum Suction

At 24.5 kilopascals, the Hitachi CVSH20V has a pretty typical vacuum suction compared to most of the other high maximum input power vacuums that are a comparable age to the CVSH20V.

If this vacuum vacuum suction is not high enough for you then you might also want to look at the NT 35-1 Tact (£302.81) (25.4kPa and higher rated), or the NT 35-1 (£289.00) (25.4kPa and higher rated) both from Kärcher or the Dirt Devil Centec M2288 (25kPa and higher rated).

Dry Cleaning Type

The cleaning type of this vacuum cleaner is Dry, which is typical of many vacuums of this age and spec.

We compared this vacuum to all the other Dry vacuums and we think because of it's better review score, the Princess Royal Jet Vac (£69.05), the Electrolux ZUPG3801, and the Samsung SC15F50 is also worth considering.

If you would prefer a vacuum with a better cleaning type then you might want to look at the 20570-56 (Wet), or the 21180-56 (Wet) both from Russell Hobbs or the Polti Vaporetto Action (£59.00) (Wet) which is also higher rated.
