Video cameras of a similar spec and age to this camcorder have display diagonals of between 1.4" and 4.3", and the average display diagonal is 2.9". At 3 inches, the Canon Vixia HF M500 has a quite large display diagonal compared to most of the other camcorders of this spec and age.
We compared all the other 3" screen size camcorders to this camcorder and we think because of their better review scores, the Vixia HF M40, and the Legria HF R38 both from Canon are also worth considering.
If you want a camcorder with a larger display diagonal then you might want to look at the Sony HVR-Z7 (3.2" and higher rated), or the Canon XA10 (3.5" and higher rated).
