With a digital zoom of 160 times zoom factor, the HDR-PJ650 has one of the bigger digital zooms amongst big total megapixels camcorders of this age. The digital zooms of big total megapixels camcorders that were launched around the same time as the HDR-PJ650 range from 2x to 1,500x.

If this Sony video camera digital zoom is not big enough for you then you might also want to consider the Panasonic HC-V770 (£394.99) (1,500x).

SDXC Compatible Memory Cards

SDXC compatible memory cards

The HDR-PJ650 supports an SDXC compatible memory cards which is better than the SDHC compatible memory cards supported by most video cameras that are a similar age to it. This Sony camcorder also support MS PRO Duo and MS Pro-HG Duo and SD compatible memory cardss. SDXC cards are SD cards but with a much higher capacity and faster processing speeds. They have a maximum capacity of 2TB (Terabytes).

An SDXC compatible memory cards is in fact the best supported memory card type across all video cameras of this age and spec.

The worst supported memory card type amongst comparable types of video camera is MS PRO.

SDHC cards are DS cards with a higher capacity of up to 32GB.
