At 4 times zoom factor, the V-Lux 3 has a fairly average digital zoom compared to most of the other comparable spec digital cameras that have been on the market for around the same time as the V-Lux 3.

It may also be worth considering one of the other 4x digital zoom digital cameras currently available including the Lumix DMC-GF2, or the Lumix DMC-GF5 both from Panasonic or the Sony NEX-5 + E 18-55mm which has better reviews.

If you want a bigger digital zoom then you might want to look at the Alpha A5100 (£389.99) (8x), or the Alpha A5100L (8x) both from Sony which is also higher rated.
