A number of Leica X Vario reviewers who bought the Leica X Vario concluded that it had a good zoom. Malcolm Fowler said in his Leica X Vario review “It fits great in pocket and the zoom offers a great range” and gave the product a score of 5 stars. Mr. I. A. Macpherson said on Amazon “The zoom lense is powerful and the quality” and scored it 5 stars. Two years ago Pepper wrote in their Leica X Vario review “Also, I think the pictures taken in normal daylight conditions especially at long zoom are slightly sharper too”.

Several people who purchased it thought it had a good lens. Four years ago Dale Thorn said in his Leica X Vario review “The X1 by comparison has a fairly small lens assembly that pops out when the camera is switched on”. M. Williams said on Amazon “The TZ70 makes the same optical compromise as the TZ60 - it has an excellent Leica lens that has up to 30x zoom”. Expert website Dpnow.com said “Speculation ranged from a fixed prime lens full frame special to a new compact system camera with interchangeable len” in their review.

Two years ago G T Evans mentioned on Amazon “Lovely clear pictures - amazing zoom” in their review. Lesley70 gave it a score of 5 stars and said in their Leica X Vario review on Amazon “I also want to be able to take the best pictures I can”.

A number of people said in their reviews that it had a good picture resolution. Bookworm wrote in their Leica X Vario review on Amazon two years ago “This camera has 12 Megapixels - which is plenty for any normal user”. Pete Wolverhampton wrote in his review on Amazon “I was drawn to the TZ70 due to the option of RAW, providing best resolution photos”. Pete Wolverhampton also mentioned “Another disappointment is the resolution”.

A few people who bought it reckoned that it had a good image sensor.
