I am a student who also needs a computer for home use. This had all of the features I needed and no extras. It's lightweight and easy to setup. I like the keyboard. It seems to fit my hands perfectly.
Full numpad, 1TB HDD, 8GB RAM, looks impressive
Seems solidly built. Should be easy to work on for when I replace the wifi card. Boots relatively quickly, even with the slow 5400rpm hard drive
The matte screen is awful, collects any dirt or oil directly from the keyboard when closed (rubber stoppers aren't high enough). Screen is easily scratched and difficult to clean, and it becomes obvio
I think the mouse pad is too large. At the same time, this is useful if you do not use a wireless mouse
