Nice Design

A number of customers who reviewed it agreed that it was good looking. A. Jiboye rated the Asus PG278 as excellent and wrote two years ago “Pretty easy to set up” in their review. Acidx said “When I look at this beautiful display for hours on end, I am slowly absorbed into a softly shaded vignette as the world around me blurs” in their Asus PG278 review and rated this PC monitor as very good. Amazon Customer said on Amazon “The picture quality is superb for a TN panel, when I turned on the monitor for the first time I was blown away by the gorgeous display” in their review.

Almokhtar Bukhamsin wrote on Amazon last year “I point fingers to this monitor because its Awesome in quality and performance, yet infuriatingly minimalist in effing inputs” in their review of this PC monitor. Amazon Customer said “Assumed it would last me for a very long time since I thought ASUS was a high quality company” in their review of the Asus PG278 nonetheless they only gave the Asus PG278 a rating of 1 stars. Amazon Customer also mentioned “First impression is that the build quality is very very nice”.

Good Picture Quality

Several Asus PG278 owners mentioned in their reviews that it had good colour saturation. Acidx said on Amazon “Someone sat next to you will see the exact same colours, especially if you angle the screen evenly”. Amazon Customer mentioned in their review of the Asus PG278 on Amazon “Ok the colours on this monitor might not be quite as good as the IPS one.” and gave the product a score of 80 out of 100. Three years ago Boffinboy said on Amazon “This is really noticeable in some games in light colours and was enough for me to return the monitor”.

A Bit Expensive

A number of Asus PG278 owners concluded that the Asus PG278 was not cheap. Almokhtar Bukhamsin wrote “Something you wouldn't expect nor understand for such an expensive piece of tech!”. Amazon Customer said on Amazon two years ago “Awsome screen yet expensive for the quality you get”. Antoni wrote in their Asus PG278 review “A bit expensive for a monitor”.

A few Asus PG278 reviewers who reviewed the Asus PG278 concluded that it was not good value for money. David rated this PC monitor 20 out of 100 and he mentioned on Amazon “The price point is too high for the panels quality.G-Sync” in his review. Two years ago G. Woodruff mentioned in their review of the Asus PG278 on Amazon “Good screen, good accuracy for a TN, very bad price”. G. Woodruff also mentioned “At too high a price”.

Good Technical Features

Two people who reviewed it concluded that it had good features. Two years ago Mike wrote “Great Gaming monitor mixes best features”. Peter wrote on Amazon “OSD was quick as and had nice features, only displayport to connect devices was another minor annoyance” in his review however despite that he only gave the product a rating of 2 stars.

Does Not Have a Built-In Speaker(s)

The Asus PG278 does not have a built-in speaker(s), although it is worth noting that most of the other LCD screens of this type and age also do not have a built-in speaker(s).

We compared this LCD screen to all the other LCD screens with a built-in speaker(s) and we think the DELL U3415W (£684.48); or the Samsung S34E790C (£634.92), or the iiyama XB2779QS (£485.39) are also worth considering.

Does Not Have a Built-In Camera

The Asus PG278 does not have a built-in camera, although it is worth keeping in mind that most of the other PC screens of this spec and age also do not have a built-in camera.

We compared all the other flatpanel monitors which also have a built-in camera to this flatpanel monitor and we think the Philips 272P4 (£594.99) which is also cheaper is also worth considering.

Does Not Have a Card Reader Integrated

The Asus PG278 does not have a card reader integrated, although it is worth noting that most of the other PC displays of a similar type and age to the PG278 also do not have a card reader integrated.

It is worth also looking at alternative LCD screens which also have a card reader integrated including the U3014 (£749.00), or the UP2715K (£899.00) both from DELL or the Benq PG2401 (£598.00) which also has a higher rating.
