The HP 840 has an HDD storage media which is faster than most many processor cores desktop computers that are a similar age to it. Most desktop computers that were released around the same time as it have an SSD storage media. A Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is the traditional storage method for computers. A HDD stores the information on magnetic disks. HDD drives are cheap, but they are slower than Flash and SSD bases storage systems.

It may also be worth also looking at one of the alternative HDD computers currently available including the HP 440 which has better reviews.
