Canon released the 8227A over two years ago.

Supports Full HD Projection

Unlike most of the other projectors of this age and type the Canon 8227A supports Full HD projection.

It is worth considering alternative projectors which support Full HD projection including a higher Kagoo Rating™ product such as the CP-WU8460, or the CP-WX8255A both from Hitachi or the Mitsubishi Electric UD740U.

Has a Built-In Speaker

Like most of the other 3000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that came out around the same time as the 8227A, the Canon 8227A has a built-in speaker.

Different multimedia projectors with a built-in speaker that you might want to also look at include a higher Kagoo Rating™ multimedia projector such as the Optoma DS317, the Hitachi CP-DW25WN, or the Epson EB-X12.

Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity

Most of the similar spec projectors that have been on the market for more than two years, including the Canon 8227A, do not support WiFi connectivity.

Other projectors with a WiFi connectivity that you might want to consider include the BrightLink 436Wi (£1,564.53), the EB-430 LW, or the BrightLink Pro 1410Wi all from Epson.

Does Not Support 3D Image Projection

Most of the projectors of this type and age do not support 3D image projection, including the Canon 8227A.

We compared this multimedia projector to all the other projectors with a 3D image projection and we think the DW312, or the TW695 both from Optoma or the Mitsubishi Electric UD740U are also worth considering.

Dim Projector Brightness

At only 2,500 ANSI lumens, the Canon 8227A has a fairly dim projector brightness compared to most of the other 3000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that are older than two years. The dimmest projector brightness of projectors of this age and spec is 1,300 ANSI lumens, the brightest is 7,000 ANSI lumens, and the average projector brightness is 3,500 ANSI lumens.

If this 3000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projector projector brightness is too dim for you then you might want to consider the 475Wi (2600 ANSI lumens and higher rated), or the PowerLite S12+ (2600 ANSI lumens and higher rated) both from Epson or the Optoma DS317 (2600 ANSI lumens and higher rated).
