Epson Has Excellent Data Projector Reviews

Projectors manufactured by Epson are some of the best projectors according to average user and expert reviews.

Over a Year Old

This projector has been on the market for over a year.

Does Not Have a Built-In Speaker

The Epson EMP-1717 does not have a built-in speaker, unlike most of the other projectors that have been around for more than a year which have a built-in speaker.

Other data projectors with a built-in speaker that you might want to consider include the Optoma DS551, the NEC NP610, or the Benq MW811.

Does Not Support 3D Image Projection

Most of the projectors of a comparable type and age to the EMP-1717, including the EMP-1717, do not support 3D image projection.

We compared all the other data projectors with a 3D image projection to this multimedia projector and we think the DS551, or the X315 (£599.21) both from Optoma or the Barco RLM-W12 are also worth considering.

Does Not Support Full HD Projection

Most of the one year old similar spec projectors, including the EMP-1717, do not support Full HD projection.

It is worth considering alternative projectors with a Full HD projection including the Barco RLM-W12, the NEC NP-PX750, or the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8345.

Does Not Support WiFi Connectivity

Most of the data projectors that have been on the market for a similar time to the EMP-1717 do not support WiFi connectivity, including the Epson EMP-1717.

We compared all the other projectors with a WiFi connectivity to this projector and we think the Gigabyte BRIX (£104.12), the Sony VPL-EW226 (£362.05), or the DELL M900HD are also worth considering.

XGA (1024x768) Native Projector Resolution

The highest resolution of the EMP-1717 is XGA (1024x768). That's 23% less resolution than the most common native projector resolution of WXGA (1280x800).

We compared this multimedia projector to all the other projectors that have a resolution of XGA (1024x768) and we think a higher rated product such as the P1283 (£369.99), and the S1212 both from Acer or the NEC NP610 are also worth considering.

If the resolution of this projector is too low for you then you might want to consider the W770ST (£460.02) (WXGA (1280x720 and higher rated) and higher rated), or the W750 (£427.98) (WXGA (1280x720 and higher rated) and higher rated) both from Benq or the Casio XJ-A246 (WXGA (1280x720 and higher rated) and higher rated).
