Reasonably Priced

One owner thought the Epson PowerLite 98 was good value for money. Three years ago Pcmag.com mentioned on PC Mag “If you're looking for a reasonably low-cost XGA projector that's the right brightness for a a small room”.

Excellent Quality for Data Images

Two people who purchased the Epson PowerLite 98 concluded that it was good quality. Pc Mag said “Excellent quality for data images” however they gave it a score of 18.8 out of 100. Three years ago expert review site Pcmag.com scored the product 8 stars and said “The Epson PowerLite 98 XGA 3LCD Projector delivers a bright image, excellent quality for data screens, watchable video”.

Ceiling Mountable

The PowerLite 98 is ceiling mountable. Most of the other 10000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that have been on the market for a similar time to this projector also are ceiling mountable.

Fairly Loud Noise Level

The PowerLite 98 has one of the louder noise levels (37 decibels) amongst similar spec multimedia projectors of this age. The noise levels of 10000:1 contrast ratio multimedia projectors that are a similar age to this projector range from 28dB to 49dB.

We compared all the other 37dB noise level projectors to this multimedia projector and we think because of it's better review score, the EB-X24, and the EB-W18 both from Epson is also worth considering.

At 3,000 ANSI lumens, the PowerLite 98 has a fairly average projector brightness compared to most of the other data projectors of a similar age and spec to this projector.

We compared this data projector to all the other 3,000 ANSI lumens brightness projectors and we think because of it's better review score, the Benq MH680 (£607.98), and the Epson PowerLite 955W (£731.53) is also worth considering.

If this multimedia projector projector brightness is not bright enough for you then you might also want to look at the 1430Wi (£1,952.73) (3,300 ANSI lumens), or the 1980WU (£999.97) (4,400 ANSI lumens) both from Epson which also has a higher rating.
