Data projectors built by Optoma generally have good reviews.

Reasonably Priced

Two Optoma HD83 reviewers said that the product was good value for money. Expert review site Trustedreviews.com gave the Optoma HD83 a score of 70 out of 100 and wrote in their review of this projector “3D mode look absolutely excellent for the HD83's money.”. Trusted Reviews mentioned “3D pictures are very good for the money”.

One customer who purchased the Optoma HD83 said that it was a bargain for the price. Expert website Trustedreviews.com wrote in their review of the Optoma HD83 “Panasonic, we're about to take delivery of Sim2's new Nero 1 3D model, Epson's new remarkably cheap 3D models” and gave it a rating of 70 out of 100.

Good 3D Picture Quality

Supports 3D

The Optoma HD83 supports 3D, which is unusual. Most of the other projectors of a comparable age and type to the HD83 do not support 3D.

We think you might also be interested in some of the alternative projectors which support 3D currently available including the Epson EH-TW6600[plb_2495277_price] which has better reviews.

We compared this multimedia projector to all the other multimedia projectors with a 3D and we think the Optoma HD141[plb_2415610_price] is also worth considering.

1080p (1920x1080) Projector Native Resolution

The highest resolution of the Optoma HD83 is 1080p (1920x1080). That's over two times the resolution of a WXGA (1280x800) data projector, which is the most frequently found resolution. Across all similar spec projectors that have been around for more than two years the best resolution is DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) and the worst is VGA (640x480).

Quite Big Uniformity

At 90 percent, the Optoma HD83 has a fairly big uniformity compared to most of the other projectors that were launched around the same time as the HD83. Across all the comparable spec projectors that are a similar age to the HD83 the uniformitys range from 80% to 120%.

Two HDMI Ports Quantitys

The Optoma HD83 has more HDMI ports quantitys than most of the similar spec multimedia projectors that came out more than two years ago. Most of the data projectors that have been on the market for a comparable time to the HD83 only have one HDMI ports quantity, however this data projector has two HDMI ports quantitys.

At 280 Watts, the Optoma HD83 has a fairly big bulb power compared to most of the other data projectors of a similar spec and age to the HD83. The average bulb power of multimedia projectors that were released more than two years ago is 230W, and the bulb powers range from 130W to 400W.

Does Not Support Wi-Fi

Most projectors of a comparable spec and age to the HD83 do not support wi-Fi. The Optoma HD83 is no exception to this as it too does not support wi-Fi.

We compared this projector to all the other projectors with a wi-Fi and we think the Gigabyte BRIX[plb_2116585_price] is also worth considering.

Quite Dim Projector Brightness

The average projector brightness of projectors of a similar spec and age to the HD83 is 2,900 ANSI lumens, and the projector brightnesss range from 75 ANSI lumens to 11,000 ANSI lumens. The Optoma HD83 has one of the dimmer projector brightnesss (only 1,600 ANSI lumen) amongst data projectors of this age.

If you would prefer a projector with a brighter projector brightness then you might want to consider the Epson EH-TW6600[plb_2495277_price] (2,500 ANSI lumens) which also has a higher rating.
