4 Reasons For

Panasonic Multimedia Projectors Have Excellent Reviews

Projectors built by Panasonic generally have excellent reviews.

Supports Full HD

The Panasonic PT-DW740ELS supports full HD, unlike most of the other 2500:1 contrast ratio projectors that have been available for more than two years which do not support full HD.

We compared all the other projectors which support full HD to this data projector and we think the Sony VPL-DW125 which has better reviews is also worth considering.

Fairly Bright Projector Brightness

With a projector brightness of 7,000 ANSI lumens, the PT-DW740ELS has one of the brighter projector brightnesss amongst data projectors of this age. The projector brightnesss of projectors that came out around the same time as the PT-DW740ELS range from 500 ANSI lumens to 16,000 ANSI lumens.

If you would prefer a brighter projector brightness then you might want to consider the CP-HD9320 (£9,824.40) (8,200 ANSI lumens), the CP-WX9210 (£5,326.80) (8,500 ANSI lumens), or the CP-WU9410 (£9,933.60) (8,500 ANSI lumens) all from Hitachi.

Fairly Big Bulb Power

Projectors that have been on the market for more than two years have bulb powers of between 190W and 400W, and the average bulb power is 250W. With a bulb power of 300 Watts, the Panasonic PT-DW740ELS has a fairly big bulb power compared to most of the other projectors that are a comparable age to the PT-DW740ELS.

7 Reasons Against

Does Not Have a Built-In Speaker(s)

The Panasonic PT-DW740ELS does not have a built-in speaker(s), unlike most of the other multimedia projectors that have been around for more than two years.

Alternative data projectors which also have a built-in speaker(s) that you might also want to consider include the Ricoh PJ WX4130 (£1,581.46) which also has a higher rating.

Does Not Support 3D

The PT-DW740ELS does not support 3D, although it is worth noting that most of the other multimedia projectors that were released more than two years ago also do not support 3D.

We compared this multimedia projector to all the other projectors with a 3D and we think the Vivitek Qumi Q2 which is also higher rated is also worth considering.

Does Not Support Wi-Fi

The PT-DW740ELS does not support wi-Fi, although keep in mind that most of the other 2500:1 contrast ratio projectors that came out around the same time as the PT-DW740ELS also do not support wi-Fi.

Chart Edit

Running Costs Are Very High

The PT-DW740ELS is in the most expensive 12% of all 43 2500:1 contrast ratio projectors that came out more than two years ago that we have analysed for 1 year running costs. Based on typical energy prices and usage levels, we estimate the 1 year running cost of the PT-DW740ELS is £303.

Chart

Very Low Horizontal Synchronization (max)

The PT-DW740ELS has a quite low horizontal synchronization (max) (only 91 kilohertz) compared to most of the other 2500:1 contrast ratio projectors that have been available for more than two years. The average horizontal synchronization (max) of 2500:1 contrast ratio projectors that have been around for around the same time as the PT-DW740ELS is 94kHz, and the horizontal synchronization (max)s range from 90kHz to 110kHz.

Chart Edit

Quite Low Vertical Synchronization (max)

Projectors of this age and spec have vertical synchronization (max)s of between 0.085kHz and 120kHz. With a vertical synchronization (max) of only 85 kilohertz, the PT-DW740ELS has one of the lower vertical synchronization (max)s amongst 2500:1 contrast ratio projectors of this age.

Chart Edit

Heavy

At 15.4 kilograms, the Panasonic PT-DW740ELS is quite heavy compared to most of the other projectors of this age and type. Across all the comparable spec data projectors that have been around for around the same time as the PT-DW740ELS the weights range from 470g to 47kg, and the average weight is 7.1kg.
