Has a Snapshot Button

The Tracer Gizmo has a snapshot button. Most of the other webcams of a similar age and spec to the Gizmo do not have a snapshot button.

We think you might also be interested in some of the alternative webcams with a snapshot button currently available including the C250, or the Pro9000 both from Logitech which has better reviews.

Does Not Have a Motion Detector

The Tracer Gizmo does not have a motion detector. Most of the other similar spec webcams that have been on the market for around the same time as the Gizmo also do not have a motion detector.

It is worth considering alternative webcams which also have a motion detector including the Logitech C615 which also has a higher rating.

Very Low Megapixel

Across all the webcams of this age and spec the megapixels range from 0.1MP to 20MP. With a megapixel of only 0.3 megapixels, the Tracer Gizmo has a quite low megapixel compared to most of the other built-in microphone webcams that came out around the same time as the Gizmo.

There are a number of other 0.3MP webcams currently available which you might also want to look at including because of it's better review score, the Konig IP Camera (£29.95).

Webcams with a higher megapixel that might also be worth looking at include the Genius FaceCam 1000X (£14.26) (1MP), the Samsung VG-STC4000 (1MP), or the Defender Multicam WF-10HD (£122.62) (1MP).

The Tracer Gizmo has a maximum video resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. That's 67% less video resolution than a 1280 x 720 pixels webcam, which is the most common video resolution.

This webcam's video resolution (640 x 480 pixels) is actually the worst video resolution amongst all webcams of this type and age.

Amongst comparable types of webcam the best video resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Not USB Powered

The Tracer Gizmo is not USB powered, although this is within the context that most of the other webcams of this spec and age are also not USB powered.

If you would prefer a webcam that is USB powered then you might also want to consider the Logitech C615 which also has a higher rating.

The Tracer Gizmo does not feature face tracking. Most of the other comparable spec webcams that have been available for around the same time as the Gizmo also do not feature face tracking.

We compared this webcam to all the other webcams with a face tracking and we think the C310, or the C910 both from Logitech or the Microsoft LifeCam HD-6000 is also worth considering.
